NOTE: “CITY COVER” – A LANDSCAPE URBANIST PROPOSAL- PRESENTATION ON APRIL 15-17

 

Students should revisit older work from the semester and or fully complete the work below.  Note that the deliverables have points attached per importance for the semester final.

 

  1. (50 POINTS) City “Cover”/Mapping (Mapping refers to an abstract representation of your concept developed as a three dimensional programmed landscape urbanist city roof and drawings) Project – Students will develop programmed elevated trellis/ “roof” like structure –  the structure should allow for;
    1. bicycles
    2. Walking paths
    3. Climbing walls (from the ground up to the walkway)
    4. Cafes
    5. Student program ideas as well
    6. Plans elevations and section -detail drawings as well as at least one perspective drawing. Use 18”x24” Bristol for the drawings . Draw detail drawings to help fully illustrate your design.
    7.  Physical model
    8.  Perspectives – at least one
  2. (30 POINTS) City “Edge” Project – Students should program and develop a clear set of drawings for the edge of their cities in all four quadrants
    1. Plans elevations and section -detail drawings as well as at least one perspective drawing. Use 18”x24” Bristol for the drawings . Draw detail drawings to help fully illustrate your design.
    2. Physical model
    3. Perspectives – at least one

 

  1. (20 points)City Center Project
    1. Plans elevations and section -detail drawings as well as at least one perspective drawing. Suggested – Use 18”x24” Bristol for the drawings . Draw detail drawings at ¼”=1’-0” to help fully illustrate your design.  However – JPEGS from your sketchbook are acceptable.
    2. Physical model
    3. Perspectives – at least one

 

  1. City Housing Project (40 points)
    1. Plans elevations and section -detail drawings as well as at least one perspective drawing. Use 18”x24” Bristol for the drawings . Draw detail drawings at ¼”=1’-0” to help fully illustrate your design.

  1. Concept of City (40 points) – Develop at least three diagrams that explain your city project- remember that the “mapping” project is one of these diagrams – see my “taxonomy” blog entry.
  2. City Site Sections (40 points)
    1. Draw in building and streetscapes – how do the entry level elevations look at the street level
    2. Final Portfolio (200 points) – websites are acceptable
  3.  NODES (30 POINTS)
    1. Plans elevations and section -detail drawings as well as at least one perspective drawing. Use 18”x24” Bristol for the drawings . Draw detail drawings at ¼”=1’-0” to help fully illustrate your design.
